True Cinnamon from South India

Gathering Place True Cinnamon powder, also known as Sweet Cinnamon or Ceylon Cinnamon, is hand harvested from family farms in South India. True cinnamon needs to be shade grown and enjoys growing under coconut and banana trees. True cinnamon has a less spicy, more complex, subtle, and naturally sweet flavour. The taste is beyond compare to the more familiar type of cinnamon, known as Cassia. Although popular, Cassia cinnamon contains coumarin, an anticoagulant that can be toxic to the liver. Many people with Type 2 diabetes take daily supplements of cinnamon. Several studies have shown improved insulin sensitivity and blood glucose control by taking as little as 1⁄2 teaspoon of cinnamon per day. Make sure you are using true cinnamon (and always consult your health care professional)!

Best "True Cinnamon" out there!

I am a daily user of cinnamon and look for flavour without the health risk of Cassia Cinnamon. That means "True Cinnamon", i.e. Ceylon Cinnamon, is the best choice. Gathering Place has done impressive research to find the best tasting on the market. I had to inquire about it, as it was just too yummy! So, yes, it's the real deal and you will not find a better tasting cinnamon with no dry or dusty texture! I'm now ordering the big bag so I can fill my small jar and keep the rest in the freezer! Thank you Gathering Place!!

True Cinnamon is a mild and flavourful spice that can be used from adding it to apples and yogurt to baking it in your favourite cinnamon bun recipe. It has a light brown colour and has a soft/sweet aroma compared to the darker, stronger tasting Cassia type of cinnamon.

I have purchased kilograms of True Cinnamon from Gathering Place Trading and have never been disappointed.

If you have never tried “True Cinnamon”, give it a try and you won’t be disappointed. Five out of five stars!

This is an amazing cinnamon. Some of my friends are surprised when I tell them I buy 500g of cinnamon. They ask “doesn’t it go stale?”. No it doesn’t because it gets used so quickly. Seriously this cinnamon is full of true cinnamon flavour and mild enough that you can add it to all kinds of things: smoothies, breakfasts, wraps, soups, etc. I can’t say enough good things about it. I used to buy it from Whole Foods in Vancouver but they stopped carrying it. I’m so glad to be able to get it online. Worth the shipping cost. Really. do it. Oh and they sent me this lovely heart-shaped handwritten note with the order. Made my heart melt.

This cinnamon is the best I’ve ever had. It is dark and full flavoured with all that great cinnamon-y taste. I will never use any other brand now that I’ve had this! Plus buying it supports such a good cause 🙂
