Garam Masala is a blend of spices originating from the North of India. Garam Masala consists of cumin, coriander, cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg, fennel and black pepper. It’s flavour profile is warm, sweet, floral, with mild heat. It is used as a curry blend and is a fragrant and flavourful spice blend. Unlike other curry blends that contain mustard and chili for heat, the mild heat in garam masala is from black pepper. It pairs particularly well with tomato, chickpeas and lentils.
