
Ingredients
- 4 cups water
- 1 cup brown sugar or honey
- 1 teaspoon Gathering Place true cinnamon powder
- 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
- 1 Gathering Place vanilla bean, sliced lengthwise down the center
- 4 pears, peeled, cored, and quartered
Instructions
- In a large saucepan combine the water, sugar, cinnamon, balsamic vinegar and vanilla bean. Heat on medium high heat until the sugar is dissolved
- Slide in the pears and cover with a round of parchment paper, with a small hole cut in the center (this allows some of the steam to escape.
- Keep the liquid at a very low boil and simmer the pears until cooked through, 20 to 25 minutes, depending on the pears.
- Remove the pears from the liquid.
- Keep the liquid at a low boil until it is reduced to half the amount.
- Serve the pears drizzled with the syrup reduction and a spoonful of whipped cream, crème fraîche, fresh berries or ice cream.
