I had the great pleasure of heading to Salt Spring Island on the May long weekend with three close friends, to attend an epic 5Rhythms dance workshop hosted by Shauna Devlin. I served Gathering Place teas to a roomful of 80 dancers, while my pal Shani from Home Grown Living Foods, catered the event. I also danced so hard I had to double up on my turmeric intake to combat inflammation!
While on Salt Spring, I was also super excited to be able to visit three of our customers. First stop was Pacha Powder Organics, an amazing young company run by two sisters, Simone and Caitlin, who use our Chai Spice powder in one of their amazing Ceremonial Cacao superfood blends. They sweetly gifted me two bags of their beautiful product!
Next stop was Katherine Bergeron (pic below), the owner-founder of Bangin’ Masala Chai. She buys our fresh, organic spices and grinds them into her own secret blend. I had a chance to taste it at the Salt Spring Island Saturday Market where she has a booth in “gasoline alley" - delicious!!
And last, but not least, was Salt Spring Nature Works, a long-time customer and an epic grocery store located in the heart of Ganges. It was such a pleasure to meet the owners, Ted and Cathryn, after over a decade of supplying them with our bulk spices and teas. I was also so happy to meet Akiko, who places all the orders for the shop and has helped to create the store's beautiful bulk spice and tea section, pictured here.
While on the island, we camped in the beautiful Ruckle Provincial Park and paid a visit to the Stowel Lake Farm Retreat Centre. I was blown away by the beauty, peace, and amazing people we met there. We were also so lucky to visit Daria at Chorus Frog Farm, a beautiful organic operation with 1000’s of transplants for sale at their farm stand!
I live on Cortes Island and it will always be my first island love, but wow, Salt Spring, you made me fall in love all over again!
