About Our Organic Ceylon Black Tea Growers

Small-scale Sri Lankan farmers grow black tea on carefully tended plots of land, often less than one acre, using traditional methods such as contour planting. Quality is prioritized through hand-plucking the top two leaves and bud, a labor-intensive practice that supports livelihoods within farming communities, particularly for women. Once harvested, the fresh tea leaves are processed in a Fair Trade, Third Party Certified Organic facility. As farmers navigate challenges including rising costs and climate variability, many are increasingly adopting climate-smart techniques to improve yields while supporting long-term sustainability.
